Before · the teacher’s notes

“Makeups are what’s killing me. The rule is 24 hours or the lesson is used, one makeup a term — but I keep caving when a parent texts at 8am. $140 a month for weekly 30-minute lessons, billed the 1st, and I’m still chasing it in week three… what new families get from me now is a mess of texts.”

After · the pack

Missed lessons

With 24 hours’ notice you get one makeup each term, in a swap week. Same-day cancellations use the lesson. If I cancel on you, that makeup never counts against your term.

Tuition

$140 a month for weekly 30-minute lessons, billed on the 1st. Your fee reserves your weekly time, not a count of lessons.

Questions for the teacher

Do siblings share the one makeup, or get one each? One line either way.

Sample pack · an invented teacher, from the 468-word notes below

Three steps.

01

Send the brain-dump

Everything you already explain to new families one text at a time, however rough: your rates and how billing actually works, lesson lengths, the makeup rule you’re done bending, the summer term, what happens with snow days, how recitals work, where students park, how much practice you really expect. The rant is exactly right.

02

We write the pack

Within two days after payment: the welcome letter, the lessons page, the tuition page, the policies page, the studio calendar page and your studio questions — in your voice, firm where you’re firm, with the fair flip side you named. Every rate, rule and date is one you gave; whatever your notes left open comes back as a numbered question, not a guess.

03

Send it once, point at it forever

A Word file you can edit, a text file and a PDF proof. Paste it into your welcome email, print it for the studio wall, or send the one link. One free round of changes within a week — the rule you softened or the rate you forgot still goes in.

One pack. One price.

  • The welcome letter, in your voice — not a form letter
  • The lessons page: length, where, what to bring, practice expectations as you set them
  • The tuition page: your rates, billing day and late rule, exactly as stated
  • The policies page: cancellations, makeups, summer, weather — firm where you’re firm, never stricter than you said
  • The studio calendar page: term dates and recitals as you gave them
  • Your studio questions, framed as your own
  • The tidy list + the numbered open questions
  • Word + text + PDF proof (Letter or A4) · one free round of changes within a week

Templates for this sell on Etsy at $5–$21 — and still leave you doing the writing. This is the written-for-you version, from your own notes.

Order the pack

You get an order code now and a card payment link by email. The pack comes within two days after you pay: a Word file and a text file, a PDF proof, the list of what we tidied and your questions. One free round of changes within a week.

Three questions.

What exactly do I get?

One studio’s policy and welcome pack, within two days after payment, as a Word file you can edit, a text file and a PDF proof (Letter for the US and Canada, A4 for the UK and Australia): the welcome letter in your voice, the lessons page (length, where, what to bring, how practice is expected to go), the tuition page (your rates, when billing happens, what late payment means — exactly as you stated it), the policies page (cancellations, makeups, summer, weather — firm where you’re firm, with the fair flip side you named), the studio calendar page (term dates and recitals as you gave them) and your studio questions, framed as your own. With it: a list of what we tidied or kept out and why, and a numbered list of what your notes left open. One free round of changes within a week.

Will you invent a rule, a rate or a date?

No. Every rate, rule, lesson length, term date and number in the pack is one you gave; where your notes leave something open, the pack takes the plainest reading and lists it as a question for you. We never write you a stricter makeup or cancellation policy than the one you stated, never add an instrument, credential or service you didn’t name, and never pad the pack to look longer.

Is this a contract or legal advice?

No. This is your studio’s onboarding words, written and ordered — a policy and welcome pack, not a contract and not legal advice. If you use a signed agreement, it stays your own document; the pack can point to it. One studio per order; a second brand or location is a second order, and we say so before you pay.
